Electric Coffin — New Works

Seattle-based Electric Coffin is a collaboration between Duffy De Armas and Stefan Hofmann. This dynamic collection of works, created with a broad swath of mediums including glass beads, Indonesian hardwood, hand hammered brass, acrylic, resin and UV ink, showcases the artists unique interest in exploring new methods of creating their iconic imagery. The duo’s trademark sense of humor and obsession with 1980s and ‘90s consumer pop culture is married with De Armas’ and Hoffmann’s acute attention to detail evident in their intricately detailed frames, hand-applied gold leaf and patiently stitched textiles.

About the Artist

Electric Coffin is coded within art history and ideologies from archetypes of mysticism. They explore found truths from modernity and a personal historical perspective. A process-driven studio practice and narratively informed dogma guides their process, synthesizing perception through the use of created and found iconography and typography.

They are inspired by a number of sources both material and ephemeral; sources encompass knowledge, culture, the physical remains of industry, mass production, communication, and commerce.
